In collaboration with members of the department of surgery the Nurse Practitioner (NP) assesses, recommends, implements and evaluates the care for assigned in and outpatients, ages 13 and up. The Orthopedics NP engages in the expanded practice of medical-surgical nursing. These practices include admitting and discharging patients, prescribing medications, performing therapies and treatments, ordering and interpreting tests and other procedures, according to but not limited to, mutually agreed upon practice protocols which are determined in collaboration between the Nurse Practitioner and the Director of Surgery.
Qualifications: MSN required. Minimum two (2) years current nursing (RN) experience, preferably within med-surg. Current / valid NYS license as Registered Nurse Practitioner. NYS Prescriptive Privileges Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
