Responsibilities

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care for an assigned group of patients, and for directing and coordinating all nursing care according to established standards of practice. Uses the nursing process to assess needs, plan care, implement the plan, and evaluate the patient¿s responses and progress towards goals. Collaborates with colleagues, physicians, members of the healthcare team, and the patient and family to ensure safe, effective, and efficient care delivery. Contributes to the overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Appropriately delegates nursing tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel. Demonstrates clinical leadership skills and professional accountability.

This position is a 16hr day position, (2 - 8 hr days)  in the Outpatient Wound center at the North Campus.

Qualifications

  Education:   Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BS in Nursing (BSN) degree required.

Job Knowledge/Experience:   

 Ability to practice according to this definition: The process of diagnosing human responses to actual or potential health problems, providing supportive and restorative care, health counseling and teaching, case finding and referral, collaborating in the implementation of the total health care regimen, and executing the medical regimen under the direction of a licensed physician, dentist or advanced practice registered nurse.  

Licensure:    Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Connecticut.

Certification:      BLS certification required,  Certification in wound and ostomy care strongly preferred, preferably CWOCN (wound and ostomy)

RN with BSN  willing to continue education for wound certification

 National certification in area of specialty preferred.

Skills:  Familiarity with computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), e-mail, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office. Demonstrated teamwork and communication (written and verbal) skills; demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to multi-task in busy office center.
