Job Description:
Responsible for the overall management of a nursing unit within a long-term care facility. Assumes full responsibility for supervising a 24-hour period with staff on 3 shifts. Ensures adequate staffing for all shifts to guarantee delivery of quality patient care. Monitors departmental equipment to ensure it is in proper working order. Responsible for selecting and mentoring new employees as well as evaluating performance, counseling and disciplining staff. May provide direct patient/resident care as needed.

Job Requirements:
Associates degree or diploma in Nursing; Bachelors degree preferred. Valid NYS Professional Registered Nurse License. Minimum of five years of nursing experience including at least one year in a skilled nursing facility and at least three years in a leadership capacity. Experienced with NYS DOH and JCAHO standards. Knowledge of MDS and PRI processes preferred. Excellent supervisory skills along with the ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of patients/residents, their families and the facility. Strong organization, multi-tasking, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Must be service-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent documentation skills and computer proficiency including ability to use clinical, email and MS Office applications.
