Job Description:

 

Neonatal Nurse Practitioners work in partnership with Seattle Children's neonatologists to provide level III and higher neonatal care at Seattle Children's Hospital as well as three other regional affiliated hospitals, including sites in the south Puget Sound area.  Shifts vary in length.  NNPs are assigned to one primary site and rotate to one or more of the other three hospitals.

Provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for clinical management of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings.  Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans.   Direct or participate in case management and continuing care.  Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care.  Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects.  Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

Requirements:Required:
  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited neonatal nurse practitioner program.
  • State of Washington active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurseandadvanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
  • Current NCC national certification as a neonatal nurse practitioner
  • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completion
  • Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children’s Hospital.
  • Two (2) years experience as NNP in Level IIandLevel III NICUanddelivery rooms is strongly preferred and be able to take call shifts.
 Preferred:
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required
  • Infant transport experience
  • Certification as a Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor by AAP/AHA
