{"id":11313,"date":"2019-07-03T23:09:00","date_gmt":"2019-07-04T06:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nursemk.wpengine.com\/7-recruiting-tools-nurse-recruiters-wish-had\/"},"modified":"2022-03-02T14:34:05","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T19:34:05","slug":"7-recruiting-tools-nurse-recruiters-wish-had","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/blog\/7-recruiting-tools-nurse-recruiters-wish-had","title":{"rendered":"Top 7 Recruiting Tools Nurse Recruiters Wish They Had"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Taking the guesswork out of sourcing and hiring nurses takes some trial and error.<\/h2>\n<p>That is, unless you have the right recruiting tools in your toolkit.<\/p>\n<p>Recruiters share the challenges they face and offer ideas about technology that would save time and create a better experience for job seekers with these seven \u201cwish list\u201d tools:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 \u2014 One place to check all social media platforms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Keeping track of all the social platforms and job boards where recruiters advertise openings feels like a chore for many recruiters, said Megan Bailey, RN, BSN, MHA, product\u00a0manager with the University of Utah Health, Regional Network LLC, in Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n<p>Tops on her wish list is a single platform where she can check on all <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/blog\/social-media-recruiting-tips-attract-nurses\/\">social media traffic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe use five to six places to find nurses, like Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, and have to check in every day,&#8221;\u00a0Bailey said. &#8220;If we had just one platform to log in and check all the platforms, it would save a lot of time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Recruiting automation tools are much needed, according to a 2018 trends report published by <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hubfs\/202646\/Entelo's%202018%20Recruiting%20Trends%20Report.pdf?t=1530708036795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Entelo<\/a>, an AI recruiting platform.<\/p>\n<p>About 70% of survey respondents said \u201csourcing automation would increase productivity\u201d because it helps reduce manual and repetitive tasks. Sourcing candidates for one job takes up about one third of the work week.<\/p>\n<p>How many social media sites are recruiters using today? On average recruiters use 7.8 social platforms simultaneously, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn2.hubspot.net\/hubfs\/202646\/Entelo's%202018%20Recruiting%20Trends%20Report.pdf?t=1530708036795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Entelo<\/a>. They also report 81% of respondents <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/how\/#social-media\">use social media to source talent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/contact-blog\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter 3328 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>2 \u2014 Recruiting tools that identify experienced nurses<\/h3>\n<p>A question recruiters ask is, \u201cWhere do nurses look for jobs?\u201d Bailey said.<\/p>\n<p>With all the social platforms and job boards, Bailey said she would like a report that ranks <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/blog\/how-to-use-social-media-to-reach-job-applicants\/\">top social sites for nurses<\/a>. She wants to know which sites have the highest performance metrics to better assess ROI for advertising dollars spent.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[I\u2019d like] data to back up why a certain platform works better than another,\u201d she said. \u201cLet\u2019s say I buy a <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/how\/#targeted-network-display\">banner ad <\/a>with 4,000 impressions, I want to know I would get about four to five nurses. I want to know how successful my ROI will be from advertising, versus a banner ad with 45,000 impressions.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>3 \u2014 Artificial intelligence<\/h3>\n<p>Ever talk to Siri or Alexa to find a \u201crestaurant near me\u201d or check the latest thunderstorm activity? Then you already use AI.<\/p>\n<p>Theresa Mazzaro, RN, CHCR, senior talent acquisition specialist at Suburban Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Bethesda, Md., wants more AI tools because they can improve the candidate\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/how\/#job-board\">job search<\/a> experience.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, it gives recruiters a new way to reach tech-savvy candidates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish we had the ability to use AI, like chat bots and virtual career fairs,\u201d said Mazzaro, who noted the technology is a time saver compared to the traditional method of planning out a career fair. \u201cWith a <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/blog\/5-benefits-hosting-virtual-career-fair\/\">virtual career fair<\/a>, people can see the drop-in hours, and if you are a candidate looking for a job, you could literally pop in and have a chat with a recruiter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The chat bot helps recruiters connect with prospective candidates hanging out on the hospital website.<\/p>\n<p>By the year 2024, about 55% of HR managers surveyed believe AI will become more integrated within their departments, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/ideal.com\/how-recruiters-feel-about-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ideal.com<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 a company that worked with sources such as Deloitte, CareerBuilder, Alexander Mann and Undercover Recruiter to compile their AI findings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/contact-blog\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11442 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1-300x75.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1-768x192.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1-200x50.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1-400x100.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1-600x150.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.nurse.com\/solutions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Nursecom_MediaKit_B2B_April2019_1000x250_V1-800x200.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>4 \u2014 Mobile-friendly recruiting tools<\/h3>\n<p>Wouldn\u2019t it be nice to have an app that lets nurses know which states are hiring \u2014 in their specialty \u2014 and which employers offer the best perks?<\/p>\n<p>Whether it exists is hard to say. Bailey said this kind of technology would be a win-win for both parties.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBy using different filters like locations, perks like <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/blog\/reel-top-talent-signing-bonus\/\">sign-on bonus<\/a> and<a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/blog\/tuition-reimbursement-could-be-key-attract-and-retain-fresh-rn-talent\/\"> student loan reimbursement,<\/a> the app would be for both the nurses and recruiters who have access to it,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>App functionality that sorts and filters the right talent would be priceless.<\/p>\n<p>Bailey said it would be helpful with <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/blog\/travel-nurses-fill-gaps-patient-care\/\">travel nursing opportunities<\/a> because some nurses relocate based on lifestyle requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, her organization recently created a nursing internship program that includes five states.<\/p>\n<h3>5 \u2014 Text recruiting<\/h3>\n<p>No doubt, <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/how\/#email\">email communication<\/a> has its place. The problem is messages often get buried in inboxes.<\/p>\n<p>When speed matters most, a text message is a quicker form of communication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you send out a text, it\u2019s easier to communicate with people because you get a higher response rate from a text compared to an email,\u201d Mazzaro said.<\/p>\n<h3>6 \u2014 Easy applicant tracking system<\/h3>\n<p>Easy-to-use applicant tracking with mobile ability definitely made the wish list.<\/p>\n<p>Mobile- and tablet-friendly recruiting tools give candidates an easy way to apply without having to download an extra app, according to Mazzaro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[A mobile apply option] gives candidates the ability to hit a button and apply, and then you can send them the link to <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/how\/#job-board\">apply for the job<\/a> once they qualify as a candidate,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>This is yet another time saver for recruiters.<\/p>\n<h3>7 \u2014 Crystal ball technology<\/h3>\n<p>If you dangle the right carrots under their noses, nurses might choose your organization over another.<\/p>\n<p>If you knew the top five perks nurses cared about, Bailey said it could <a href=\"http:\/\/advertise.nurse.com\/how\/\">help recruiters with marketing efforts<\/a> because you could offer perks that hold more value to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs it
