Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: A high school diploma; or at least 3 months experience Proficient in spoken and written English Applicants may qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation). Grade Determinations: GS-07 Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required at this grade level. Experience: One year experience at the next lower level and must fully meet the KSA's at the GS-06 grade level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSA's and the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSA's designated by an asterisk (*): Ability to evaluate, analyze workflow, and coordinate work activities.* Ability to independently gather, evaluate, and analyze data to generate reports and/or for other projects/statistical purposes. Knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures sufficient to train and orient new employees and other staff. Comprehensive knowledge of the operation and care of specialized pharmaceutical equipment. Comprehensive knowledge of the procurement and formulary process. Comprehensive knowledge of investigational drug policies and procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of controlled substance policies and procedures, and the ability to identify and investigate discrepancies in these policies and procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to, analyze data in VA information systems. References: VA Handbook 5005/15, Part II, Appendix G28 Physical Requirements: Work requires physical exertion such as periods of standing (8-12 hours), walking (8-12 hours), repeated bending (4 hours), straight pulling (4 hours), pulling hand over hand (4 hours), pushing (4 hours), stooping, reaching above the shoulder, heavy carrying (45 pounds and over), heavy lifting (45 pounds and over). Ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to distinguish shades of colors.
