Physician Assistant, Orthopedic Surgery
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/22/2020. . Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Graduate of a PA training program, or of a surgical assistant program which is accredited by the Accreditation ReviewCommission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor organizations; and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited PA training program or in another health sciences related field from an accredited college or university recognized by theU.S. Department of Education. Certification: Current and continuous certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). NOTE: Recent PA graduates who are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) may be employed by the VA on a temporary basis (38 U.S.C. 7405), for a period of not to exceed two years, as provided in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section G, Paragraph 5. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Preferred Experience: Two years mid-level experience in a surgical clinical setting preferred. Grade Determinations: Grade will be determine by a Physician Assistant Professional Standards Board (PSB). References: VA HANDBOOK 5005/78 Part II Appendix G8 Physician Assistant. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. The full performance level of this vacancy is 13. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of 08 to 13. Physical Requirements: Position requires moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, pushing, walking and standing for extended periods, ability for simultaneous rapid and mental and muscular coordination, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" Jaeger 1 to 4 (one eye, glasses permitted), ability to distinguish basic colors, emotional and mental stability; hearing aid permitted. Incumbents may experience exposure to blood and body fluids.
