Job Description:

Under the direction of a radiologist or physician, performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical data. The technologist will perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of ionizing radiation for the purpose of radiographic diagnosis.

Performs diagnostic procedures proficiently and strives to maintain high quality.

Assists radiologist or other physician in the performance of fluoroscopic procedures and radiographic procedures and operates imaging equipment effectively.

Properly administers contrast materials associated with imaging procedures that are within the scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.

Ensures that proper radiation safety measures are being used.

Exhibits proper professional ethics and adheres to policies regarding patient confidentiality.

Exhibits good knowledge of hospital computer resources and enters data information accurately and promptly.

Participates in call rotation.

Remains abreast of changes and new procedures by attending staff meetings and educational classes.


Education: Graduate of an approved school of Radiology

Experience: 1-2 years experience in Radiologic Technology. Interventional experience preferred.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Must be certified in primary modality or obtain certification within 18 months of hire date. Multimodality technologists must be certified in two modalities or must obtain certification in primary and secondary modalities within 18 months of transfer or hire date. Current SCQRSA license required.

Current BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) required prior to start date directly through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the military. (To register: Blended Learning or In Person BLS through the American Red Cross; or Classroom or Skills Session BLS through the American Heart Association. Certification must include an in-person skills session.

Special Training: Operation of radiology computers; knowledge of all diagnostic imaging equipment and able to treat patients of all ages.
