  • Provides care to adults in the assigned clinic per their Credentialing and privileges including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of health care problems and prescription of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Independently manages patient care and collaborates with physician as necessary.
  • Functions as direct care provider as identified by credentialing.Additional responsibilities may include education, research and administration.
  • Demonstrates the provision for age-specific care for patients.
  • Demonstrates advanced skills, knowledge, and an ability to perform treatments, procedures and utilize equipment appropriate to practice.
  • Evaluates the learning needs of patient/family and provides patient education.
  • Documentation reflects management of therapeutic care, notification of the patient of all test results per VHA standards.
  • Takes a leadership role in guiding and directing others to include all team members in the patient care process, huddles and the completion of all reports with staff who provide care to the patients.
  • Impacts patient care, organizational processes or systems to improve overall outcomes that encompass a program or service.
  • The effect of practice expands beyond an individual unit/team to encompass a program, service or service line.

The Title 38 personnel system is a rank-in-person system for registered nurses/nurse practitioners in grades Nurse I - III. Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.
  • CITIZENSHIP: Citizen of the United States.
    ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
    EDUCATION: Master's Degree in professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) OR The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). [In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.] (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
    LICENSURE: Current, full, active and unrestricted licensure, certification, and/or registration as a graduate professional nurse Nurse Practitioner (NP) in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. (LICENSURE REQUIRED)
    CERTIFICATION: current, full, active and unrestricted certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body the a specialty related to this position. (CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)

Preferred Experience: Experience in Stress Testing and Nuclear Stress Testing is strongly encouraged

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.
