Quality Improvement Specialist
Qualifications: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Four (4) years of related experience required. Computer literacy and data entry management experience required. Analytical skills used to identify areas in need of review/improvement required. Evaluation of the accuracy and completeness of reviews through audits by the Director of Quality Improvement. Demonstrated knowledge of performance improvement methodologies. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. CPHQ preferred. Successful completion of the ACS NSQIP SCR Training/Certification Program required. Qualified candidates who do not have the NSQIP SCR Certification will be considered for the position and must obtain the NSQIP SCR Certification within three (3) months of hire.
Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the Quality Improvement Specialist position is to assist in the development and implementation of the University Hospital Quality Improvement Program. The Surgical Clinical Reviewer’s (SCR) chief responsibility is to collect and submit reliable data to the ACS NSQIP. Ensures high quality data compilation, documentation and entry into the ACS NSQIP database of all eligible surgeries for UH. The SCR works closely with the members of the Department of Surgery to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified.
