POSITION SUMMARY
:  

The Student Nurse Tech I - III is a tiered position based upon education and experience of the student as they progress through their nursing program.  Specific tasks are aligned with the learning curriculum of local Florida nursing programs.  Student curriculum progress will be verified prior to tier assignment.  The SNT will be assigned a specific preceptor though as a part of the learning experience will be asked to complete nurse tech tasks as appropriate for the unit to which they are assigned, with the guidance of a nurse and their preceptor as necessary.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 



  • SNT I:
    Vitals, I/O, patient feeding, bathing, daily weights, assist to bathroom, assessments, range of motion, ADL, Accu-Checks, oral suction.  This is the starting position.  Preceptors should assess competence in all functions prior to the SNT I doing any of the above tasks and should continue to monitor and address concerns, competence and confidence issues as experience build.
  • SNT II: 
    All of the above, plus:  Assessments, NG tubes, IV Starts, wound care, post-procedure groin management, tube feeding & flushes.  Preceptors should assess competence in all functions prior to the SNT II doing any of the above tasks and should continue to monitor and address concerns, competence and confidence issues as experience build.
  • SNT III: 
    All of the above, plus:  Assist insertion, flushing and management of central lines, intubation assistance, chest tub assistance, endo-tracheal care.  Preceptors should assess competence in all functions prior to the SNT III doing any of the above tasks and should continue to monitor and address concerns, competence and confidence issues as experience builds.
