The James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx VAMC is affiliated with the Mt.Sinai School of Medicine (NYC), numerous Nursing Academic Affiliations and the Hospital for Special Surgery, and Columbia University. The hospital has a professional practice model and shared governance. It is located in the NW Bronx on a self-contained campus easily accessible by car (free parking for eligible employees) or public transportation subsidy if qualified.
We are currently are recruiting for 1 full-time Nurse Practitioner in the Spinal Cord Injury (Home Care).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have the following to be considered:
A Master’s Degree (MSN) from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE; current, unrestricted RN and Nurse Practitioner license issued by any U.S. State; and current Nurse Practitioner Certification from the American Nurses Association (ANA) or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in one of the following specialty: Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner for this position. U.S. Citizenship and English language proficiency is required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d), and physical standards (see VA Directive and Handbook 5019).
DUTIES: The Nurse Practitioner is accountable for the management and evaluation of patient care under his/her care. He/she functions within a scope of practice in collaboration with a physician to provide care to veterans in a home care setting. Tour of duty is flexible with patient care needs.
- Minimum five years of successful nursing practice or post graduate Nurse Practitioner course with didactic and supervisory clinical experience.
- General Nursing experience in a home care setting.
