  The Nurse Manager serves as the accountable department manager for a designated patient care unit/department(s). She/he has responsibility for all daily operational activities including departmental planning related to staffing, scheduling, and budget, ensuring appropriate systems and processes for the efficient delivery of care, and ensuring safe/high quality care and an outstanding experience for patients and their families. This leadership role assumes 24 hours a day, seven days a week responsibility for all department functions. The manager is responsible for maintaining effective interprofessional communication and a positive work environment that supports and embraces the principles of shared governance. The manager is also responsible for ensuring that staff are educated and competent to care for the patients under their care. The manager routinely collaborates; works effectively with physicians, peers and other Legacy leadership to meet the strategic objectives of Legacy.

Opened in August 2005, Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, Joint Commission certified as a Primary Stroke Center, stands as Southwest Washington State’s most modern hospital. The 32 bed Emergency department at Legacy Salmon Creek, with 75,000 annual visits, increases to 48 beds in the afternoon utilizing a different area in the hospital to support ambulatory and pediatric care. 24-hour pediatric nursing support and a separate care area for children are available along with a pediatric Emergency MD 3pm – 11pm daily.

Job Qualifications:

Education: Academic degree (BSN or MSN/MN) required. Master’s degree required; MSN/MN preferred. Internal or external candidates may be considered with verification of a master’s degree in progress.

Experience: Two years of leadership practice experience required. Demonstrated growth in leadership responsibilities and breadth desired. Previous clinical experience specific to the appropriate area of specialty practice is highly desirable.

Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure for applicable state. Specialty specific certification highly desirable.

Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of clinical operations, including staffing and scheduling, budget management, workflow planning, staff development, quality, safety and patient experience management. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills, and a willingness to lead by example. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions are essential.
