SUMMARY:

Evaluates nursing practices, develops methodologies and implements standards of care, and assesses and addresses patient and staff educational needs. May provide formal or informal education, in area of specialty, for nursing staff. Will utilize comprehensive knowledge of clinical theory, practice, and new concepts in area of specialty to serve as a resource to nursing staff. Researches, develops, coordinates, and facilitates new concepts, principles and nursing methodologies in area of specialty.

This position will have specific service line focus on Cardiac Surgery. Cardiac Surgery at Rochester General Hospital encompasses the Cardiothoracic ICU and Cardiothoracic Specialty Unit (4400). It will also encompass the VAD program development and implementation and the transitioning of 4400 into step down unit for Cardiothoracic Surgery.

STATUS:               Full Time

LOCATION:          Rochester General Hospital
FOCUS:                Cardiac Surgery – which includes the Cardiothoracic ICU & Cardiothoracic Specialty Unit (4400)


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Education required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience, clinical research preferred.
  • Teaching/Instructing experience preferred.
  • Critical Care RN experience is required
  • Cardiac and/or VAD experience strongly preferred.
