The Community and State Training Team is currently recruiting a Trainer to support the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of New Jersey. 

The Senior Trainer will be responsible for the effective delivery of training for new business initiatives, new and existing training programs that encompass training of clinical staff such as nurses, social workers, and medical directors as well as non-clinical staff.   

The Senior Trainer will be a self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who promotes optimal training outcomes through: 

• Continual collaboration with instructional designers, business partners, and SMEs
• Thorough assessment and analysis of training needs
• Timely, planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of training 
• Participation in the design of training materials and curriculum to support training programs
• Participation in the development of national job aids and workflows

Primary Responsibilities:  

• Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements
• Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems
• Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
• Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
• Translates concepts into practice
• Provides explanations and information to others on difficult issues
• Coaches, provides feedback, and guides others
• Acts as a resource for others with less experience
• Participates in the development of training reference and resource materials 
• May participate in Senior Level discussions/meetings 
• May attend meetings as requested by State officials 
• Prepares for and supports effective training facilitation appropriate for the adult learner 
• Manages/supports the learning environment 
• Measures and enhances learning effectiveness
• Establish effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management 
• Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to drive changes to learning approaches/strategies/methodologies 
• May act as a liaison between State Health Plan leadership and the C&S Clinical Training team
• Supports/backs-up other members of the training team  
• Always maintains poise and professionalism during the facilitation process (i.e., difficult situations)   
• Perform other duties to support projects contributing to the success of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Tennessee

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
• Must live within commutable distance to the Iselin New Jersey Office and be New Jersey Choice Certified
• Current unrestricted RN or Social Work license in the state of residence
• 3+ years of clinical experience (i.e., care coordination, service coordination, case management, etc.)
• Experience with adult learning/training, virtual training, instructional design and/or training project management (i.e., performing presentations in person and/or through virtual platforms, classroom training experience, virtual (Teams/WebEx) training experience
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid
• Knowledge of managed care
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio), SharePoint and Shared Drives
• Facilitation and presentation skills with the capability to engage, inspire and teach adult learners at all levels
• Ability to create Standard Operating Procedures, Job Aids, and Workflows
• Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity – can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, can decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty in a manner consistent with UnitedHealth Group’s core values 
• Communicator with skills to flex to different audiences at different levels of understanding and seniority
• Proven ability to develop and present effectively to a variety of audiences
• Ability to travel up to 25%

• Experience with electronic care management applications (CommunityCare, ICUE)
