What You Will Do:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  • As a team member, participates in the development of annual program plans for each of UMMC’s major product lines and key support services to identify priorities for upcoming fiscal years based on the Strategic Plan.
  • Works collaboratively with physician marketing staff to identify current community practices to maintain strong relationships, identify practices who we have no current referrals from and pursue them, and track results of faculty visits. These efforts will be reported on a regular basis to keep clinical faculty aware of key referral sources and trends in admissions.
  • As a team member, participates in the development of detailed program plans within specified product lines to support identified priority initiatives that focus on achievement of certain institutional or program goals, and assist in developing budgeted volumes of patient care services. This will be done in coordination with the Hospital’s clinical operations and patient care services staff, financial planning and budget staff, marketing and managed care staff, clinical department faculty, and administrators.
  • Participates in the maintenance of comprehensive databases, including demographics, physician referral sources, referral patterns and economic indicators permitting market analysis and projections of future trends using various health care delivery models and usage rates in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Assembles and analyzes data from a variety of sources to support the strategic and program planning functions of the Medical Center.
  • Monitors federal, state, and local legislation that may impact the organization’s competitive and strategic planning. Specifically, monitors the Maryland State Health Plan and Certificate of Need regulations developed by the Maryland Health Resources Planning Commission.
  • Ensures that services are oriented toward the needs and expectations of key users/customers as a result of data collection efforts, ongoing assessment of program plan effectiveness, and ongoing interdisciplinary representation in the planning processes.
  • What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field or equivalent required. Master’s Degree in Health Services Management preferred.
  • Two years of progressive work experience with a minimum of one (1) year of data analysis experience is required with Bachelor’s Degree. No previous experience will be considered with Master’s Degree in Health Services Management.
