Hours: Varied hours based on the needs of the program.
Provide daily support and supervision to individuals so that they might live as independently and safely as possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide a supportive, caring, safe, and home environment by attending to individual needs, respecting differences, and supporting growth and independence.
Provides individuals' personal hygiene by completing the following personal care functions:
- Bathing (bed, tub, shower, or sponge bath)
- Skin Care
- Toileting (bedpan, urinal, commode, and/or toilet)
- Grooming (shampoo, nailcare, and shaving)
- Oral hygiene
- Assist with dressing/undressing
Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding individuals as necessary including tube feedings; ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge for safe use of medical equipment (i.e. cane, crutches, walkers, Hoyer Lift, brace, splints, oxygen, etc)
Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, non-sterile dressings, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths, etc
Maintains individuals stability by checking vital signs and weight
Administer medications as outlined in the ODP Medication Administration class, and following agency policy and procedures.
Provides individual comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting individuals; answering individuals' requests; reporting observations of the individual to Program Supervisor and nursing staff.
Maintain the home and its furnishings, including minor indoor and outdoor work.
Deal with immediate individual problems in collaboration with program staff, with serious problems being referred to the Supervisor.
Assist in the management of household budget and individual expenditures.
Attend meetings and training as required.
Assist in the preparation of reports as required.
Provide transportation for individuals as required.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations; maintaining licensure. Attend meetings and training as required.
Oversee and assist with the daily operation of the home, such as general housekeeping, cooking, laundry, shopping and lawn care.
Act as host for potential referrals and visitors.
Perform overnight awake shifts, as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Candidate must have current and valid CNA certification; must maintain certification for duration of employment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Related experience or experience in the field preferred.
- One (1) year, documented, experience working with ID population.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, family members, staff, professionals, vendors and medical personnel.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Current, valid CNA certification
