Valley Regional
 is currently looking for a Registered Nurse-Women Center  Dept.

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.  Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice.  Maintains a safe a therapeutic environment.  Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.  Plans individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.  Participates in performance improvement activities.  Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospitals mission and vision statement.

        When acting in charge nurse role, registered nurses are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.  Make staff assignments based on patient need and the skill of the staff.  Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff.  Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.

Responsibilities:

1.       Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the assessment and care specific to the postpartum patient.

2.       Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the assessment and care specific to the ante partum patient.

3.       Clinical nursing practice reflects competency in : IV insertion and maintenance, use of external fetal monitors, use of Doppler, infant security, blood product administration, and use of PCA pumps.

4.       Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competency in the management of pre and post operative gynecological patients.

5.       Accomplishes AWHONN certification after 1 year of hire and maintains this certification. 

6.       Demonstrates competence in the nursing process in accordance with standards, policies and procedure: Competency in the use of meditech system for documentation. / Use of CPN for L&D documentation.

7.       Functions as an independent team member in performing patient care for newborn babies.

8.       Provides safe environment for patients and responds to risks and incidents according to quality assurance and risk management policies.

9.       Responsible for completing educational requirements and to comply with policies and procedures in regard to safety guidelines  established by OSHA, JCAHO and other state and federal regulatory agencies.

10.     Consistently demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate services and care in accordance with the unique needs inherent to patients age and culture.
