Registered Nurse-Clinical Practice Manager Hematology/Oncology

Hours: 8:00a - 5:00p; occasional evenings
Virginia Mason is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Clinical Program Manager in Hematology/Oncology. Working in this position, the Registered Nurse is responsible for improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of the clinical care provided to patients across the Cancer service line primarily in Hematology/Oncology and Infusion Services. In addition to implementing quality improvement processes and building safe practices, this role also provides education programs to improve staff capabilities so that we adhere to the most recent cancer care guidelines and accreditation standards. The manager will report directly to the Nursing director and is expected to be well versed in CoC (Commission on Cancer), QOPI (Quality Oncology Practice Initiative), and ASCO (Amer Society of Clinical Oncology) clinical standards. The number of reports in the department support a direct reporting relationship to the Director while this role will focus on implementation and execution of process improvements.
Leads work to ensure compliance with oncology certification and accreditation standards.
Works collaboratively with the leadership teams to drive clinical and safety improvements.
Works with service line leadership to ensure common standards across cancer care delivery sites.
Plans, implements, and evaluates program development activities in conjunction with leadership team.
Develops and implements clinical and referral pathways to support the highest level of patient care.
Supports tumor conference work at the direction of the Institute medical director.
Provides the development, review and updating as appropriate of policies and procedures specific to Oncology care.
Provides education through verbal, written, and hands-on experience to cancer team members across all settings.
- BSN degree required.
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse License
- Relevant clinical skill/experience
- Ability to analyze complex patient care problem.
- Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation
- Ability to identify the educational needs of the patients, family, and staff
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Oncology experience
