Position Summary:

The registered professional nurse integrates and practices according to the City of Hope Professional Practice Model to deliver care service excellence. In alignment with City of Hope mission and values, the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services vision and mission, and with continuous focus on the patient, family and community, carries out the nursing process, coordinates interdisciplinary care planning, documents according to standards, including validation of the patient and caregiver's understanding of the plan of care and expected outcomes. The nurse is a change agent, committed to lifelong learning, professional development and embodiment of City of Hope organizational mission and values, and the values and ethos of the profession of nursing.

Department Description:

The Critical Care/ICU at City of Hope is designed to provide the optimal setting for critical care nurses and their patients, the 18 bed, all private room Oncologic Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit serves City of Hope's pediatric, adult and geriatric populations. The unit's U-shaped configuration with a central nursing station on each side enables nurses to deliver highly attentive care, providing central monitoring for all patients needing cardiac monitoring.

Services include:

Intensive care and close monitoring of critically ill patients

  • Care of patients with mechanical ventilators

  • Monitoring patients receiving vasoactive medications to maintain blood pressure

  • Close Monitoring of a medical or surgical condition

  • Post-anesthesia recovery

  • Continuous renal replacement therapy

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

BSN (Bachelors in Nursing)

2 years of clinical experience in ICU

Current California RN License

American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS
