Waukesha Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit is a 24 bed, multi-specialty unit including cardiovascular, neuro-surgical, medical respiratory, sepsis, drug overdoses, suicide attempts, a variety of other surgical, and trauma. This team works with adult and some pediatric patients.  The ICU intensive care unit at Waukesha Memorial Hospital has earned a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). The award recognizes unit caregivers for successfully improving patient outcomes and aligning unit practices with AACN standards. Units that receive this three-year award meet national criteria consistent with other national quality awards, such as the National Quality Healthcare Award. Waukesha Memorial is one of only two hospitals in Wisconsin to earn the silver-level Beacon award. (2013).


​Hours: This position is a full-time 12 hour night shift (1900-0700) role with every other weekend requirement and holiday commitment is included.

The Registered Nurse, ICU will provide extraordinary quality care to those experiencing, or are at risk for development of life threatening illness.



  • RN licensure in Wisconsin (or Graduate Nurse temporary permit).

  • Possess the ability to be trained to function in the ICU within 6 months.

  • Displays a positive attitude about themselves, work and staff.

  • Possesses excellent communication skills.

  • Meets all necessary competencies within 6 months of hire.

  • Possesses basic computer skills.

  • Sets own educational goals and completes 16 hours of annual continuing education.
