JOB
SUMMARY


Under the department of Pediatrics the Attending
Physician VI (Neonatology – Hospitalist) provides clinical care and management
of sick neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Responsibilities
include supervising residents and medical students and participating in morning
reports, as needed. Adheres to all federal, local, and department rules and
regulations supporting Cook County Health & Hospital Systems (CCHHS).

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD
    or DO from an accredited medical college, university or foreign equivalent
  • Valid
    License as a Physician in the State of Illinois or ability to obtain license
    two (2) weeks prior to starting employment
  • Must
    be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics by the date of hire
  • Valid
    Illinois Controlled Substance License or ability to obtain license two (2)
    weeks prior to starting employment
  • Valid
    licensure with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or eligible to
    obtain licensure two (2) weeks prior to starting employment
  • Current
    Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification by the date of hire
  • Experience
    in the provision of clinical care to ill neonates in a level II NICU

KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

  • Knowledge
    of the basic principles and practice of neonatology
  • Knowledge
    of the principles and methods of training medical staff to ensure standard care
  • Ability
    to provide clinical care to ill neonates in the NICU
  • Excellent
    communication skills both verbal and written


  • Ability
    to maintain professional demeanor and composure when challenged

  • Ability to train by presenting
    concepts and demonstrating tasks

  • Ability
    to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed

    MUST

    of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United
    States' territories and Canada must be credentialed by an approved U.S.
    credential evaluation service belonging to the National Association of
    Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International
    Credential Evaluators (AICE). Original credentialing documents must be
    presented at time of interview.




    Must successfully meet the credentialing
    standards established by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include
    a State of Illinois MD license and any other license, certification, or
    specialized training, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate’s
    start date
