The Registered Nurse consistently demonstrates the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in applying the nursing process as follows:
Formulates a plan of care for patients with complicated medical problems in collaboration with patient and family, through observation of the patients physical condition and behavior and interpretation of information obtained from the patient and others which ensures that direct and indirect nursing care provides for the patients safety, comfort, hygiene and restorative measures.

Performs skills essential to the kind of nursing action to be taken, explains the health treatment to the patient and family and teaches the patient and family how to care for the clients health needs. Delegates tasks to health team members based on their legal scope of practice and capabilities, follows up with health care team members and provides effective clinical guidance of patient care being given.  Performs the duties of charge nurse as assigned.

Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care through observation of the patients physical condition and behavior, signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment and through communication with the patient and health care team members and modifies the plan as needed.  

Acts as the patients advocate, as circumstances require, by initiating  the procedure to improve

health care or to change decisions or activities which are against the interests or wishes of the

patient and by giving the patient and family the opportunity to make informed decisions about

health care before it is provided.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required:

1. Current California Registered Nurse License. 2. Current BLS, ACLS   3. Need chemo competency and experience 4. CHEMO CARD - within 6 months of acceptance of role

5. Ability to learn and utilize computerized patient care management system.

6. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must read, write and verbally

communicate in the English language.
