We are seeking a Labor and Delivery Operating Room Technician to join the Maternal Infant Unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital.

In the Maternal Infant Unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital we offer a full range of integrated womens health services for all stages of our patients lives.  Our team of highly-trained Gynecologists, Obstetricians, Perinatologists, Anesthesiologists and Registered Nurses provide our patients family-centered care that is rooted in compassion. 

Our Maternal Infant Unit includes a 24-bed Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP), with spacious rooms our patients remain in for the duration of their stay.  In addition to the LDRP rooms, we have 3 overflow Postpartum rooms, a Nursery, and 2 Obstetrics (OB) Operating Rooms.  For high-risk pregnancies and childbirths, we maintain a 20-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), multiple maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and 24/7 Neonatologist coverage.

Specific elements of the Labor and Delivery Operating Room (OR) Technicians position include the following:

  1. Performs Labor and Delivery surgical procedures competently.

  2. Demonstrates competency in assisting surgeon as it relates to unit scope of care.

  3. Utilizes principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining a sterile field.

  4. Utilizes equipment and performs special procedures as related to unit Scope of Care.

  5. Demonstrates flexibility to perform other functions within Labor and Delivery that contributes to the smooth operation of the Unit.

  6. Demonstrates support of HCA Perinatal Safety Initiative, Patient Safety Goals and Joint Commission standards.

  7. Performs job tasks in a way that ensures personal, patient, and departmental safety.

  8. Assists the Registered Nurse with circulating duties in the OR and the Delivery room with vaginal deliveries.

  9. Provides a safe environment for the surgical patient during their perioperative experience.

  10. Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs.

  11. Participates in on-call assignments and demonstrates flexibility to cover staffing as needed.

  12. Exercises sound judgment and decision-making skills on behalf of patient, self, and peers.

  13. Communicates effectively and professionally with peer, supervisors, physicians, ancillary departments and other customers using verbal and written skills.

  14. Organizes work to complete duties efficiently and effectively.
