The Alliance for South Sound Health (a joint venture of CHI Franciscan Health and Multicare Health System) has been granted approval to build and operate a new behavioral health hospital in Tacoma, WA.  We are seeking a RN to support this exciting joint venture!

 

Summary
Our psychiatric registered nurse provides care and support for patients with psychiatric illnesses. A core duty is to evaluate the needs of patients as well as administer treatments and plan of care.  Our nurses will also collaborate with a variety of interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care for their patients. Educating the patients' family about the condition(s) and creating a supportive environment for patients are essential duties.

 

Essential Functions

Responsible for managing the assigned nursing unit(s) on a shift basis to provide safe, efficient and quality patient care.

Implement unit programs to meet specific patient care needs.

Work with interdisciplinary team on plan of care.

Accountable for making assignments, overseeing completion and documentation of same; and/or providing follow-up of all nursing procedures and staff clinical assignments.

Educate team members regarding hospital policies and procedures to ensure compliance with same.

Effectively communicate and interface with other departments.

    Work Environment
    Inpatient clinical unit for direct patient care

     

    Physical Demands
    Nurses are on their feet most of the time and are required to bend, stoop and lift to help patients in their daily activities. Sometimes, the nurse works individually with patients, but he or she may also work with groups of patients in a therapy session. Psychiatric nurses can be called upon to assist patients who are upset or behaving dangerously.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

    • BSN in nursing preferred.

    • Washington State License as a Registered Nurse.

    • A minimum of two years’ experience in psychiatric nursing preferred and one year experience in an acute care setting preferred.

    • Certification in Psychiatric Nursing is preferred.

    • Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional as defined in Washington State RCW/WAC

    • Current CPR.
