St Anthony Hospital is EXPANDING! Our 3rd floor is developing a Progressive Care unit comprised of 16 beds. This is a new unit, and it will open January 2018 as a Med-Surg Telemetry floor. In June 2018, the floor will undergo a staged remodel to allow intermediate level care for patients. As our volume grows, the patient population will expand to house progressive care patients in this new wing.

Opening as a Med-Surg Telemetry unit, we will offer care for medical patients, infectious diseases, pulmonary, GI, non-invasive treatments and a variety of other diagnoses.  All rooms are private with their own restrooms, supply cabinets as well as couches and privacy curtains for the comfort of family who wish to stay close.  We have two rooms fully plumed to handle dialysis patients.  Computers are also located in each patient room to facilitate bedside documentation and medication verification.  We utilize Epic as our electronic health record.

Once the unit transitions to Progressive Care, additional services provided will include vasoactive medication drips and care to higher acuity-level patients. ACLS certification will be required for RNs once the unit transitions to Progressive Care.

The management structure of the unit consists of an experienced Clinical Manager who will oversee the unit. The Charge Nurses provide additional clinical support for the staff and help to maintain the flow of the unit.  The staff is comprised of RNs, Certified Nursing Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators with support services provided by Respiratory Care, 24 hour Pharmacists, PT/OT, IV Therapy RNs, Dieticians and RN Care Managers.  RN assignments are determined by patient census and acuity and our normal RN ratios for med-surg patients are 1:5 with CNA support.

Minimum Requirements

•          Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred

•          Previous Medical/Surgical experience is preferred.  New graduates are also considered for residency positions.

•          Current RN license from the Washington State Board of Nursing

•          Current Healthcare BLS Certification

•          Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire
