||We have an immediate opportunity for Director of Pharmacy.
General Summary: The Director of Pharmacy plans, directs, and monitors all activities of the department. Develops policies, procedures and processes to ensure that the pharmacy provides optimal pharmaceutical care and meets all legal, accreditation and certification requirements. Develops competency assessment programs that ensure all pharmacy staff performs at utmost efficiency and safety and complies with all applicable policies, codes and standards of the company. The Director is active in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.
Patient Population: Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the patients served. The ages of the patients served are adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older).
Uses discretion and independent judgment to organize and administer pharmacy services at the hospital. Maintains and models effective working relationships with hospital employees, medical staff, patients, families and visitors. Provides leadership in developing performance standards for all pharmacy personnel. Evaluates and counsels all employees on their performance in a professional and timely manner. Responsible for department’s financial performance to include: monitoring and controlling resource utilization and expenditures, while ensuring adherence to operating budget. Plans, organizes, and coordinates department functions and activities to achieve objectives and complies with regulatory standards and requirements. Plans the system for delivery of pharmacy services by providing optimal, safe and cost effective use of medications; supporting the formulary development process by promoting rational therapy selection; ensuring compliance with established procedures for drug procurement, storage and distribution, including maintenance of controlled substance records as required by legislative/regulatory standards; utilizing appropriate staffing and scheduling methods and assures the presence of safe therapeutic environmental factors. Assesses and plans for educational and training needs of self and pharmacy staff in collaboration with the Hospital Education Coordinator, if applicable, for each skill level. Assures the provision of in-service and educational programming in collaboration with the Hospital Education Coordinator, if applicable. The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position requirements are demonstrated through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served, and other special needs of patients or customers served by the department. Adheres to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations. Regular attendance and timeliness is required.This description is a general statement of required essential functions performed on a regular and continuous basis. Supervision: Directs the activities and personnel of the pharmacy department.
Experience: Five years of health-system pharmacy experience or three years clinical pharmacy is preferred. Two years of prior supervisory or management experience is preferred.
Education: Graduate of an APCE-accredited school of Pharmacy or equivalent PharmD degree;. Doctorate degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacist license in state where currently practicing is required. Current Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification in pharmacotherapy is preferred. Current BLS certification is required. All Directors of Pharmacy must maintain current licensure and BLS certifications while employed with LifeCare Hospitals.
