JOB SUMMARY

The House Administrator functions in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer in providing direction and administrative leadership to hospital staff during the evening or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays. This position functions autonomously making operational decisions, resolving discrepancies, and responding to hospital-wide emergencies. All decisions and actions are within the established Cook County Health and Hospital Systems guidelines and standards for patient care.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN), from a college or university is required. (Must provide original college/university transcript at time of interview).
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience in nursing supervision/management or hospital administration with experience in dealing with staffing shortages, nursing personnel issues, resolving patient flow problems, and responding to facilities emergencies.
  • Must possess a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card. (Must provide proof at time of interview)

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration.
  • Seven (7) years of Nursing and/or Nursing Administration experience.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
    • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with all levels of hospital personnel.
    • Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, contractual agreements and regulatory standards.
    • Analytical skills, problem solving skills for all decisions involving patient care, staffing and emergency response.
