Charge Nurse (RN) - Geri Psych

Shift: 7A-7P, 3 days a week, rotating weekends

West Houston Medical Center is currently looking for a Charge Nurse (RN) - Geri Psych.

Responsibilities:


  • Under the general supervision of the units Director or designee the Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. 
  • In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit. 
  • The Charge Nurse provides direction to Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. 
  • Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift.
  • Function as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty. 
  • Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Serves as a role model displaying a positive attitude in a professional and courteous manner on a daily basis while performing job duties
  • Accepts changes in responsibility in a positive and effective manner
  • Embraces constructive criticism and profits by translating it into positive action
  • Displays customer service orientation when providing care and services
  • Maintains an environment conducive to open communication, cooperation and positive staff development through active listening and other effective communication
  • Serves as a role model to others demonstrating desirable work habits by creating an atmosphere of pride in workmanship
  • Supports hospital mission, objectives, decisions, and policies 
  • Completes other duties as assigned
