The Clinical Practice Coordinator (CPC) contributes to the quality of the complex nursing care provided to critical care patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the educational activities provided for the nursing staff in the Critical Care Division. She/he has extended education, experience and clinical expertise in the care of critically ill patients. The components and defining characteristics of the position include: advanced clinical practice, the application of leadership skills, effectiveness in the consulting role, effectiveness as an educator and mentor, and ability to contribute to research and the professional development of self and others. She/he is knowledgeable regarding standards of care and current practices in the critical care environment.
collaboration with physicians and personnel of other departments; demonstrates
knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to complex patients
served. Provides supervision and
leadership to RNs, CNAs, and students who are providing care to critically
ill patients. Additionally, the CPC
demonstrates knowledge of principles of adult education, growth and development
over the life span, possesses the ability to assess and interpret data. She/he completes a competency skills
checklist within 3 months of employment.
