  • Duties Summary:
    The Clinical Unit Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Unit Manager and/or the Director in the management of the operations of the assigned unit on an assigned shift. On specialty units, where there is not a Unit Manager, then the Clinical Unit Coordinator is responsible for some aspects of the unit that transcend the shift. The primary responsibility is to serve as the shift leader in order to facilitate patient care delivery and flow through the continuum of care on the Unit and to trouble shoot and resolve operational, staffing and customer service needs as they arise, so that patients receive high quality and cost effective care. The Clinical Unit Coordinator performs these duties under the supervision and with the assistance of the Unit Manager and/or Director of Nursing, and the House Nursing Coordinator. The Clinical Unit Coordinator must be able to perform all aspects of the nursing process, and accept patient assignments in accordance with the Unit needs. She/he must be able to recognize, interpret, document and demonstrate skills as required by the particular patient population on assigned nursing unit. Under the direction of the Unit Manager and/or in conjunction with the Director of Nursing, assists in planning, monitoring, and improving unit operations in order to achieve hospital goals of quality, service and cost-effective delivery of care. Responsibilities also include all aspects of the Registered Nurse such as communicating, assessing, educating and providing care for patients during his/her assigned shift. The Clinical Unit Coordinator follows Hospital and Departmental policies and the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act.
    Recruitment Requirements:
    Graduate of an accredited
    School
    of
    Nursing
    BSN required (within 6 months)
    Registered Nurse licensed in the
    Commonwealth
    of
    Pennsylvania
    Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia and Critical Care Courses as required by assigned Unit
    IV Certification required; and, Advanced IV certification preferred
    BLS Certification required
    ACLS required in the ED, ICU, and Telemetry, otherwise is preferred
    PALS required in the ED and Pediatrics; NRP is required in NICU and MIU
    Specialty Certification preferred
    At least 2 years of staff nurse experience in an acute care setting
    Must be able to work alternating shifts and be flexible
    Demonstrates above average performance standards
