Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives as appropriate

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

    • Advanced Life Support specializing in Advanced Cardio Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. SHHEC/SHHG-Current ACLS certification required or must be obtained within six months of hire date into job.

    • BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support credentialed from the PALS Certification Institute obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. PALS not required at SHHP.

    • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. 

  • Preferred Credential(s):

    • Certified Registered Nurse specializing in Chemotherapy credentialed from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). 


Education:
  • Diploma 
    • Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required and No experience required. Previous clinical experience preferred. One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required to work PRN.
