Nurse Practitioner - NP - Stroke/Neurology Service Line - Days

Work closely with physicians, stroke services and nursing staff to improve clinical outcomes and processes. Determine the program of care for all incoming stroke patients, in collaboration with the Emergency Department stroke team. Participate in rounds, provide consults, and deliver in-depth follow up and tracking of patients post-discharge. Be the nucleus of our multidisciplinary team, as you help usher in the next defining era. In this role you will also serve as a resource for the NewYork-Presbyterian Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit (MSTU). The MSTU is a specialized stroke ambulance equipped with an on-board CT scanner, allowing for the treatment of acute stroke patients with intravenous thrombolysis prior to hospital arrival.

This is a full-time, days shift position. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 9:00AM - 5:00PM.

Preferred Criteria:
  • Current training or experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (Basic or Paramedic)
  • Stroke Certified Registered Nurse Certification (SCRN) is preferred
  • Acute care RN experience in stroke, critical care, and/or emergency medicine
  • Prior experience in research or clinical trials

Required Criteria:
  • At least two years of acute care RN experience, preferably in Neuro ICU
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Master's Degree in specialty of practice
  • Current New York State License as Nurse Practitioner in area of practice
  • Current New York State RN License (or willingness to obtain)
  • National Certification as Nurse Practitioner in specialty of service
  • BCLS & ACLS certifications
