NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

 

The RN II is a registered nurse who independently plans and implements routine nursing care in predictable situations using established standards.  The RN II needs minimal supervision and is beginning to demonstrate leadership behaviors.

 

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Job responsibilities include the education, preparation, and performance of cardiac stress tests, TEE/Cardioversion procedures, Tilt Table exams, and the application of cardiac monitors on the inpatient and outpatient populations.

This position adheres to and is responsible for the safety standards of Centegra Health System including the completion of the mandatory organizational safety standards on an annual basis.

Identification of population served by this position: Neonate through Geriatric as determined by the department scope of service.

 

Meets all RN I behaviors.

 

Prescribes, delegates and coordinates all nursing care for patients on assigned unit utilizing the nursing process.  Seeks guidance during the planning and implementation phases when delivering care to the complex patient.

 

Maintains “independent practitioner” status for all core competencies.

 

Accumulates a minimum of 8-education contact hours annually.

 

Meets expectation of the 14 points of Nursing.

 

Nursing documentation reflects appropriate use of the nursing process 85-90% of the time.

 

Initiates and conducts at least one patient care, or case study conference annually.

 

Demonstrates knowledge regarding the biological, psychosocial, ethnic and religious needs of the patient population, in addition to the age-specific learning needs, and incorporates those needs into the individualized plan of care.

 

Assess data accurately in terms of the patient’s status and age-specific needs.

 

Functions as a preceptor /clinical resource to staff on the unit and submits constructive written evaluation when requested.

 

Guides and supervises assigned nursing personnel in delivering patient care.

 

Promotes compliance with System and department specific policies and procedures by following established clinical guidelines and using all available resources.

 

Accepts and profits from Coaching.

 

This position performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

Holds current IL license in good standing.

 

CPR and ACLS Required

 

12 lead EKG interpretation skills

 

Completes 1000 hours of recent hospital experience in specialty or unit areas within the last 12 months or is able to demonstrate required competence.

 

Able to perform  95% of unit-specific skills and provide instruction to others on 80-90% of those skills.

 

Willingness to work in a team environment.

 

Willingness to float between campuses as needed

 

Analytical skills necessary in order to gather and interpret routine data, maintain patient records, organize workflow and prioritize patient needs.

 

Physical ability to perform functional requirements as detailed.
