Admin Nurse -Transfusion Safety Officer(contract)
You can use your nursing expertise to make sure the Transfusion Services at UCLA Health are functioning at the highest standards possible. In your role as the Nursing Transfusion Safety Officer, you'll work under the supervision of the Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine to develop a Blood Management Program that ensures patient safety, complies with all Health System Policies and Procedures, and meets or exceeds DPH, TJC, FDA, AABB, and other accreditation and regulatory agency standards.
Once the program is established, you'll work with all levels of clinical and medical staff to evaluate transfusion management strategies and offer recommendations for improvement. You also will help create policies, processes, and procedures to support blood management and utilization models that meet regulatory standards and guidelines based on evidence-based transfusion medicine practices.

Current California RN License, with a BSN required and MSN or Masters in related field preferred
Experience in quality assessment, process improvement, and project management
Proven analytic and problem solving skills
Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently
Comprehension of transfusion risks, benefits, and alternatives
Detailed knowledge of regulations and accreditation standards related to blood transfusion
Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for the appropriate use of blood products
Ability to apply evidence-based guidelines to improve clinical outcomes
Experience in facilitating groups
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Experience in program development or expansion
Experience in gathering, analyzing and presenting data
Solid computer skills
Ability to educate effectively
Ability to promote and provide excellent customer service
Ability to write concise, well-organized analytical reports
Ability to generate and analyze data for abstract and manuscript preparation
