Job Duties The LVN functions independently under the general guidance and direction of the physicians providing services in the Department of Urology. Under the general supervision of the Admin Nurse III and LVN Supervisor, the LVN provides nursing support in the Department of Urology clinics. The LVN will travel and work at other UCLA Urology clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage. Major duties include: provide patient care in an outpatient setting, assist with urologic procedures such as cystoscopies and bladder installations, perform venipuncture, administer medications, manage patient flow, collect data as appropriate and provide back-up for the clinic Receptionist. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Preferred- Ability to assist with cystoscopy examination and prostate biopsy Treatment skills including catheterizations and bladder installation Required- LVN License Ability to work flexible hours and travel to other Urology clinics as assigned. Ability to perform patient assessments and take appropriate action Skill at setting up and maintaining sterile fields Skill at effectively communicating with patients, physicians, staff and the publi. Ability to write concise and clear progress notes. Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Ability to rotate through urologic outpatient treatment areas as needed. Ability to work as part of a team and establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, doctors, peers and public. Knowledge and experience in administering intramuscular and oral dictation. Ability to assess inventory levels. Experience with varied computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs. Knowledge and understanding of medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Ability to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements of the position. |
