Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Lactation Specialist in Brooklyn.

The Lactation Consultant is a member of the health care team who is knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in lactation and breastfeeding management and whose primary focus is the provision of education, assistance and support to breastfeeding women and children

Job Responsibilities:
  • Applies research findings that support lactating mothers and/or their breastfeeding babies.
  • Participates as a member of the Maternal and Child Services Quality and Performance Improvement Councils.
  • Assures compliance with standards and regulations promulgated by all applicable agencies.
  • Educates parents on all aspects of infant feeding.
  • Serves as a support and resource for the education of other health professionals.
  • Promotes own professional growth and development.
  • Manages the Breast Pump Rental and Supply Program.
  • Considers the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultures.
  • Implements a plan of care for the breastfeeding mother and infant.
  • Analyzes assessment information to identify concerns and/or problems experienced by the mother and infant.
  • Performs a complete assessment of the breastfeeding mother and infant.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree.
  • Current Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (I.B.L.C.E.).
  • Minimum of five years lactation consultant experience.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills and creative problem solving ability.

Required Licenses: Lactation Specialist

Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Professional Nurse in New York.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
