Position Summary: Is responsible for facilitating the admission process for pre-scheduled patients and for direct patient admissions to the hospital. Reviews patient information for direct admissions and initiates communication with physicians to ensure proper admission criteria, patient room, and service assignment. Collects, reviews, and evaluates information for the pre-scheduled patient and organizes and admission packet. Communicates pertinent information to physicians and appropriate nursing unit. Tracks elective pre-admission packets for missing documents by 1400 the day previous to surgery. Takes physicians orders for admissions, medications, and treatments. Conducts preoperative teaching for surgery patients. Serves as a resource person to the Admissions/Registration Department to evaluate service needs and facilitate patient placement.
