Nemours is seeking a Nurse Manager (Rehabilitation) to join our team at the Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

The Nurse Manager/Admission Coordinator is responsible and accountable for nursing quality, service and financial performance for the assigned unit. This position is responsible for promoting a patient and family-centered model of care. The position will be responsible for instituting the shared governance model for Nemours Nursing and positively role modeling the Nemours Standards of Behavior and Values.
  • Promotes a patient and family-centered care model that promotes the nurse-patient partnership and the professional role of the nurse.
  • Manages clinical nursing staff, promoting a healthy work and learning environment.
  • Monitors monthly expenses and ensures compliance with the budget.
  • Prepares the annual budget, justifying necessary capital and operational expenses.
  • Ensures effective and efficient utilization of resources in daily management decisions.
  • Supports and operationalizes the integrated model of care.
  • Ensures nursing compliance with regulatory readiness agencies.
  • Leads quality improvement projects designed to improve nursing clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Participates in nursing research activities and supports evidence-based pediatric nursing.
  • Models a caring philosophy, focusing on health promotion and safety education.
  • Champions age-appropriate developmental considerations and holistic patient care.
  • Directs nursing planning and policymaking through constructive collaboration in key committees.
  • Markets the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (IRP) to potential outside referral sources and collaborates with the referral sources to identify appropriate patients for admission to the program.
  • Assists in the coordination of the referral/admission process for the inpatient rehabilitation program, serving as the liaison to referral sources, utilization management, third-party payers, families, Rehab Program Case Manager and the Rehab Team. Works in collaboration with the external case manager.
  • Educates the family of the patient to Nemours Children’s Hospital and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, and supports family through the admission process.
  • Effectively communicates the benefits and operations of the IRP.
  • Arranges for family tour and/or provision of educational materials about the program.
  • Responsible for participation in hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.

  • Baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing required.
  • Five years of nursing experience required; inpatient rehabilitation program; management experience preferred.
  • Currently licensed by the State of Florida or legally eligible.
  • American Heart Association BLS required upon hire. Must be valid through 2017.
  • Current PALS certification required upon hire.
