Position Description
Provides nursing assistance and patient care for the comfort, safety and personal needs of patients within the new Medical Surgical Neuro Unit. Assists patients with activities of daily living and performs procedures for physical hygiene and comfort of patients. Performs duties within the construct of a unit based, self-directed, multidisciplinary patient care team while sharing various tasks with other licensed and non-licensed members. Performs general clerical and reception duties according to needs of patient unit or department. Position is characterized by preparing and maintaining patient charts, transcribing physician orders, and entering information into computerized patient care system.

We are a primary stroke center, certified by joint commission, so we see stroke patients, in addition to traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders, seizures, aneurysm, and altered mental status.

Other general medical conditions frequently seen include, cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal and endocrine disorders, as well as infectious disease. We also see back, neck and spine surgical patients, as well as facial surgery patients, craniotomy and other neuro-surgeries.

Position Requirements
REQUIRED: 1. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant course, and be listed as a CNA on the Ga. Registry, OR a. Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course, OR b. Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program and Certified as a Registered Medical Assistant. If eligible, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire, OR c. Enrolled in a School of Nursing and has completed one (1) full semester of clinical rotations, OR d. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Medical Degree program. 2. Current BLS card (CPR). PREFERRED: 1. Enrolled in a School of Nursing, and has either completed the first (1st) year of an Associate Degree program, or the second (2nd) year of a Bachelor of Science program. 2. One year patient care experience in an acute care setting.

License/Certification Requirements: Yes
