Valley Regional is currently looking for a Certified Nurse Assistance-Medical Dept.

     The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists Licensed Nursing Personnel.  The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assisting in maintaining a safe and clean environment.  The CNA must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.  The CNA must assist the licensed nursing personnel in meeting the education, physical, and psychosocial needs of patients based on their age-specific needs.  The CNA must involve the patient, parent, and family/significant other in the plan of care.  Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.       This represents the major duties and responsibilities of this position but is not to be construed as including every task inherent in this job.  Employees are subject to reassignment of duties not specifically covered in their job description based on skill level, regulatory requirements and supervisor.


Responsibilities:

1.    Patient Care: Demonstrates ability to provide basic activities of daily living. (ADLs). 2.    Observes, reports and documents changes in body function, behavior, routines, vital signs, intake and output        (includes estimation of food intake) and weights. 3.    Communications- uses proper telephone etiquette, uses appropriate chain of command, appropriately                    communicates patient care needs and effectively administers handoff communication. 4.    Demonstrates appropriate transfer and ambulation techniques keeping in mind patient safety at all times: Hoyer    Lift, 2-Person Transfer, Slide Board, Wheelchair, Cane, Walker/Crutches. 5.    Demonstrates proper position and turning technique: Fowlers lateral, supine/prone, use of draw sheets, up in        chair. 6.    Identifies patients at risk for skin breakdown and initiates preventive measures in collaboration with the licensed    nurse; 7.    Recognizes patients at risk for falls and takes appropriate precautions. 8.    Recognizes patient discomfort and responds/reports promptly to licensed nurse. 9.    Bowel and bladder (Elimination): effective and safe use of bedpan/urinal & fracture pan bedside commode; Foley   catheter care; fleet enemas and colostomy care (emptying, recording and hygiene). 10.  Restraint monitoring and documentation as per hospital policy.
