Position Description
The PACU is a vital part of our hospital as we provide care for patients recovering from general or regional anesthesia. The PACU RN is a key part of the care team, serving to stabilize and transition the patient after surgery or a procedure.
Position Requirements
Some of your essential job functions include: -Initial and ongoing assessment of patient vital signs – Respiratory/Airway management, type of artificial airway, oxygen saturation -Administering medication, parenteral fluids and treatment per physician orders; -Monitoring and assessing the patient’s condition throughout postoperative period and reporting any unusual symptoms, occurrences or discrepancies to supervisor, anesthesiologist and physician -Treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting (or PONV) -Managing post-operative pain -Monitoring surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, etc. -Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
