The Cytogeneticist supervises and performs all aspects of cytogenetic analysis including: sample set ups, harvesting, banding of slides for analysis, scanning slides, counting and analysis of selected spreads, microscope analysis of chromosomes and imaging, karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens, including FISH analysis. Responsible for accurate reporting and signing out of Clinical Cytogenetic result and manages the technical operation of the laboratory. Write and periodically review and update all procedures for the Cytogenetic laboratory, reviews lab personnel competencies and is be responsible for training new personnel. Oversees adherence to accepted procedures and policies, assist in troubleshooting technical problems, prepare and monitor the budget, review and organize workflow, communicate as needed with referring physicians, clients, sales and marketing reps, other duties as assigned. Must have a Clinical Cytogenetics certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMG), and be Fellow of American College of Medical Genetics, in addition to a Doctorate in Cytogenetics and 2 years of Clinical Cytogenetic Laboratory experience. Must also obtain the Clinical Cytogenetics Director license from State of Florida within 60 days and obtain CLIA License in Cytogenetics.
