City of Hope offers an RN Residency Program. The program includes a 14-week classroom / didactic training, precepted learning with an oncology RN on the unit, and the Vizient™ RN Residency program. This part of the program is delivered as 4-hour monthly sessions over the course of the first year. The Residency includes customized training and competency validation in chemotherapy / biotherapy administration and training in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT).

The program startsMonday, April 30,2018. Available units include Medical-Surgical, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology/Telemetry, Surgical Oncology/Telemetry, Hematology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (Bone Marrow Transplantation).

Full-time, 12-hour night shifts are available.


  • Experienced RNs with a BSN or MSN with 2 years or less of RN experience in an acute setting who want to specialize in the units listed above.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required.

  • Current California RN License

  • Current BLSthroughtheAmerican Heart Association.

  • ACLS through the American Heart Association also required for some units (Medical Oncology/Telemetry and Surgical Oncology/Telemetry).

  • Acute Care Hospital RN experience 2 years or lessrequired.
