Please note, the purpose of this posting is to recruit for our upcoming April2018Vizient RN Residency Program for New Grad Registered Nurses.


City of Hope offers an RN Residency Program. The program includes a 10-week classroom / didactic training, precepted learning with an oncology RN on the unit, and the Vizient™ RN Residency program. This part of the program is delivered as monthly sessions over the course of the first year and focuses on professional development, quality and safety, and current trends in nursing and healthcare. In addition, the Residency includes customized training and competency validation in chemotherapy / biotherapy administration and training in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT).

The program starts April 30,2018. Available units include Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Hematology, Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (Bone Marrow Transplantation), Pediatric Hematology / Oncology, Intensive Care Unit, and ambulatory care services.

Full-time 12-hour shifts are available for inpatient units and 8-hour shifts are available for ambulatory services.


  • New graduate RNs with a BSN or MSN degree entry to practice (i.e., no professional experience as an RN)

  • New graduate RNs with an ADN who are internal candidates or who are graduates from one of our nursing school affiliates.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), MSN (Master of Science in Nursing), or ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) required.

  • California RN License must be posted on BRN website by April 16, 2018

  • Current BLSthroughtheAmerican Heart Association.

  • ACLS through the American Heart Association required for ICU).

  • PALS required for Pediatric Unit and ICU

  • Oncology Clinical Rotation, Oncology Preceptorship of 120 hours and/or one year experience as a C.N.A. in an Acute Care Hospital preferred.
