|RN HARM REDUCTION SPECIALIST
The RN Harm Reduction Specialist provides clinical expertise and leadership within the interdisciplinary team responsible for the development, ongoing evaluation and improvement towards harm reduction and trauma informed care.
The primary responsibilities of the RN Harm Reduction Specialist are: 1) to work in collaboration with Unity Center for Behavioral Health leadership to promote optimal harm reduction and trauma informed care and to ensure integration throughout the organization, 2) to support improvement of clinical outcomes through the development, implementation and refinement of best practices/processes centered around evidence-based practice for harm reduction and trauma informed care, 3) to proactively assess and address patient agitation and acuity through unit-based rounding in a partnership with charge nurse and team, 4) to serve as a role model, educator and resource to support professional development of harm reduction and trauma informed care, 5) to collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams in development of patient-specific agitation management plans, 6) to collect, identity trends, and report restraint and seclusion data, and 7) to be an expert in Recovery Centered Clinical Systems (RCCS).
Education: Academic degree in nursing (BSN or higher) required by December 31, 2020. The BSN requirement may be met by demonstrating enrollment in an accredited BSN program.
Experience: Two years of expertise in the provision and coordination of care for adult or adolescent behavioral health patients required, three years preferred. Experience leading performance improvement efforts and harm reduction preferred.
Unity is a 24-hour behavioral and mental health services center located in Portland, Oregon. There are dedicated inpatient facilities for both adults and adolescents, with 80 adult beds, 22 adolescent beds, and calming and therapy rooms available for each.
Licensure/Certification: Current applicable state RN license required. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers. Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing certification preferred. Otherwise, as required by 06025 RN Staff Nurse.
Skills: Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, problem solving, data analysis, leading change, teaching, coaching, written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and clinical information systems.
