What You Will Do:

-The Infection Control Practitioner assists the Infection Control Coordinator in the day-to-day management of the hospital-wide infection control program.
-This program is designed to identify, control, and prevent hospital-associated infections among patients. It is a coordinated process designed to reduce the risk of the spread of communicable diseases between patients and staff.
-The program is of a dual nature involving the clinical aspects of patient care and the biosafety components of occupational safety and health.
-The Infection Control Practitioner is a member of the hospital Infection Control Committee and, in conjunction with the Infection Control Coordinator, has the authority and responsibility to institute appropriate control measures or conduct epidemiological studies, where there is reasonable risk to patients and/or personnel.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, laboratory science, microbiology, or related field required.

If RN, current license in the state of Maryland required; other applicable certifications preferred.

Certification in Infection Control preferred. Three years clinical experience in nursing or laboratory science required.
