Nemours is seeking a Nurse Manager (NICU) to join our team at the Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.

The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for nursing quality, service and financial performance for the Emergency Department. This position is responsible for promoting a patient and family-centered model of care. The position will also be responsible for instituting the shared governance model for Nemours Nursing and positively role-modeling the Nemours Standards of Behavior and Values.
  • Promotes a patient and family-centered care model that promotes the nurse-patient partnership and the professional role of the nurse.
  • Manages clinical nursing staff, promoting a healthy work and learning environment.
    • Ensures adequate training of new staff and ongoing training of existing staff.
    • Maintains adequate coverage in the assigned clinical area and, when necessary, provides justification for changes in staffing levels.
    • Ensures staffing schedule is posted in a timely manner and supports core staffing needs.
    • Hires, counsels and provides disciplinary actions to unit staff as necessary.
    • Provides feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis utilizing the Nemours standards of behavior.
    • Performs a timely annual performance review for all unit staff in accordance with Human Resources policy.
    • Assesses the appropriateness of available tools and resources to staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitors monthly expenses and ensures compliance with the budget.
  • Prepares the annual budget, justifying necessary capital and operational expenses.
  • Ensures effective and efficient utilization of resources in daily management decisions.
  • Supports and operationalizes the integrated model of care.
  • Ensures nursing compliance with regulatory readiness agencies.
  • Leads quality improvement projects designed to improve nursing clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Participates in nursing research activities and supports evidence-based pediatric nursing.
  • Models a caring philosophy focusing on health promotion and safety education.
  • Champions age-appropriate developmental considerations and holistic patient care.
  • Directs nursing planning and policy making through constructive collaboration in key committees.
  • Must have the ability to work well with others and have good communication skills; regular attendance is required.

  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Five years of nursing experience required; management experience preferred.
  • Currently licensed by the State of Florida or legally eligible.
  • American Heart Association BLS required upon hire. Must be valid through 2017.
  • Current PALS certification required.
