Position Description
Provides nursing assistance and patient care to provide for the comfort, safety and personal needs of patients. This unit sees general medicine patients that fall into the 65 and older category. These patients will come from personal homes, nursing homes, resident care facilities, etc. The Older Adult Medical Surgical Patient Care Tech will see a variety of medical cases while utilizing compassion, empathy and communication skills for treating older adults with a wide range of health issues and comorbidities that include but are not limited to renal failure, COPD, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, diabetes, etc. Assists patients with activities of daily living and performs procedures for physical hygiene and comfort of patients.

Position Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED 1. a. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant course, and be listed as a CNA on the Georgia Registry OR b. Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course OR c. Enrolled in a School of Nursing and has completed one (1) full semester of clinical rotations OR d. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Medical Degree program 2. Current BLS card (CPR). KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED 1. Six (6) months’ patient care experience in a hospital or acute care setting.

License/Certification Requirements: Yes
