General Summary: Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program and activities that support the company’s objectives in delivering quality patient care services.
Patient Population: Has contact with patients of all ages in a clinical setting; understands and demonstrates appropriate behavior when interacting with patients in all populations.
Assists the Quality Improvement (QI) Director in developing and implementing the company’s CQI program. Assist in preparing monthly Medicare billing, reviewing admission paperwork and OASIS reports submitted for accuracy. Assists in the implementation of approved recommendations and assessing the company’s success in correcting clinical record deficiencies. Review reports of complaints, errors, incidents, and grievances to insure they are fully documented and properly handled in the time-frame and manner specified by the company policy. Assist QI Director/Director of Nursing with home visits regularly to observe care being rendered, to assess the condition and use of equipment and supplies, and other situations in which the client or employee is at risk. Assists QI Director in preparing reports, stats and audits as needed. Provides effective communication to clients, their families, team members, and other health care professionals. Apply concepts of infection control and universal precaution in coordination/performing client cares activities to protect both client and staff (OSHA). Monitors assigned cases to ensure compliance with requirements of third party payers. Demonstrates commitment and professional growth by participating in in-service programs and maintaining/improving competency. Meet mandatory continuing education requirements of the agency/licensing board. Promote the company philosophy and administrative policies.This description is a general statement of required essential functions performed on a regular and continuous basis. Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in home health care required. Quality Assurance experience preferred.
Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing or Licensed Vocational/Practical Nursing Program.
Current license that is in good standing to practice as an RN or LVN/LPN in any/all applicable states. Current CPR certificate. Current driver’s license in good standing.On-going employment as a QA Nurse requires maintenance of a valid RN or LVN/LPN license in the state which the nurse practices in and a valid CPR certificate at all times. It is the responsibility of the employee to renew these both before they expire in order to continue employment.
Prolonged standing, sitting, walking and stooping required. The ability to lift/transfer up to 50 lbs. Ability to meet deadlines and patient needs, make quick decisions and allocate resources under stressful conditions. Meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.Environmental/Working Conditions:
Works primarily in an office environment. Position is stressful in terms of meeting deadlines. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
